Need. More. RAM.

This post isn't entirely related to the project, but is relevant, I swear. Ok, so I was planning to get more anyways, but especially working with 800MB Photoshop files, and exporting over 220 full size JPGs for this project, the RAM I ordered last week will really come in handy! Here's hoping it gets here tomorrow! :-) This will max out my iMac at 4GB total w00t!

Project 2: Single Image

I wanted the image I selected to use for this project to be less of an obvious candidate for HDR. With this image, I created 2 layer masks, one for the leaf itself, and another for the green grass.

As you can see, it really pops a lot more than the original, but personally I'm not overly satisfied with the results on the grass. I've never even attempted HDR before this class, but I am mostly happy with the overall results for a first and second attempt.

Experimenting

These first 2, are composed of images taken prior to this class, but the manipulations were done in class. The sunset HDR was taken with my DSLR, but the Lake panorama was taken 3 years ago, with my 4MP p&s camera (and I might add, came out surprisingly well).

This last one was composed of images from this assignment, but I did not have the means to print it at this time (It would be printed 12" x 7', in two 42" pieces joined together).

Single Image Contact Sheets

Went shooting with a friend at Dorris Ranch. These were shot using a 28-70mm or 10-22mm lens, some of the water shots were using a polarizing filter. These are my contact sheets.

Video

Showed my roommate the PhotoSynth stuff, and he was reminded of this music video:

3. Trail-Lines: Some people follow lines too.
